I've had the Flying V since around 2000 or 2001. The cheap Epi Flying V has been the favorite of the lot, and of the Prophecy line I think the Flying V is my favorite as well. I've heard reviews that the Prophecy Flying V has really bad neck dive which is unfortunate. Hoping to see these in local stores eventually. I'd like to check out both the Les Paul and the Flying V. There's also a really nice looking Edwards LP Custom on eBay that's tempting! I've never owned a LP shaped guitar.
The custom fishmans rock. Single coil voicing long before the moderns had them introduced(and I still cant find any big brands using the new single coil moderns...), the second voice is way different than how close the "high output passive" is to the modern voicing. The burstbucker voicing is great and way more like a PAF obviously. So this is a great mix between classic and modern fishmans, but with a custom classic and modern instead of hot rod, something like a metalhead like me enjoys.

Good video! I was thinking about buying the extura, but i was wondering, is the scale length correct? On the site it says 628mm, but i have never seen that scale length be used on a 24 fret guitar. If it really is 628mm it would be an interesting buy, i am looking for a guitar with that fret to scale ratio for quite some time.
Hey, I mean, that's the normal Gibson / Epiphone scale length so I'm not that surprised, that they stick to it. Even with 24 frets. The Prophecy Les Paul felt pretty much normal to play, but with more frets and better access to the upper frets. //cheers, Kris
I have a Schecter with Fishman pick-ups, and an 8-string ESP with the Stephen Carpenter signature Fishman pick-ups. They're the only pick-ups I want going forward. They have a clarity I haven't heard in any other pick-up and on headphones especially they sound so large and tall, like a high wall, if that makes sense.

Just look for the Modern or old High Performance series. The 2019s were my favorite (2019 Standard had most of the HP add ons), but when you hit the coil taps, unlike this one, they actually changed the sound
Throw a String Butler and a TP6 tail on it.. it already has a Graphtech nut.. tuning stability would be off the chart.. they have amazing sustain.. versatility is far better than most.. with the Fishman all the models sounds exactly the same.. pick your body style and roll with it!
I will tell you from comparing a V Proph to a Gibson V base model that you would have to have a Gibson Custom V to be close in comparison. It's miles ahead of a base Gibson.. a Gibson Custom? Maybe not so much.. Gibson owns Epi so it's a precision machined guitar instead of Gibson's hand made..the choice is yours but Epis are far more consistent in their construction.. like it, love it, or hate it. I find it the best Epi rock guitar to date. The logo! I love it. But it's no factor to me really.. it's a great guitar at 1/2 the cost of a Gibson hand made.

You can rip out the Fishman (God l love freedom!) Throw some Gibson 57s or some Lollar Imperials if you want "Organic" and you will still be light years ahead of ANYTHING Gibson offers in that price range even adding the new pickups and installation! There really is nothing remotely close to these Prophecy's on the market for that money..ebony? What is Gibson's cheapest offering with a ebony board? 5 ply binding? However the Pickups? They are very subjective..most LOVE them..you hate them.. that's an easy fix!

These may not be flawless but l have never seen a guitar that was..some closer than others..these are much better than previous models. Modern tech is improving vastly, give it a chance and check one out..l bet you will be glad you did!
Everyone that tested that guitar not even thought of playing some Malmsteen tunes on the single coil sound. Like the guitar is a metal guitar and the most recognized single coil sound in metal is a Malmsteen neck pickup lead. Such a shame.

I like the look of it. The tone is dry and screechy not a fan of it, but I can still replace the pickups with something else.
If the pickups don't do it for you, this axe is way worthy of modding, so many nice things about it you really can't go wrong.
